Cape Egmont Half-Marathon raises thousands for Taranaki Cancer Society
Delighted organisers of the Cape Egmont Half-Marathon say this year's event is on course to raise more than $10,000 for the Taranaki Cancer Society. More than 220 participants took part in Sunday's 21.8km course, which set off from Oxford Rd, Okato, and went along country roads to arrive at the Cape Egmont Boat Club in Angler's Ave, Warea.

Thousands raised for Taranaki Cancer Society by runners braving the wild Taranaki weather
Keen runners braved a wet and windy Taranaki morning to raise $10,000 for a cancer charity. The second Cape Egmont Half-Marathon saw more than 280 runners race from Oxford Rd in Okato to Anglers Ave in Warea on Sunday. The half-marathon was started last year by Nicky Smith and a group of friends as a way to celebrate the life of one of her best friends, Andrew Smith, who died of a brain tumour on Christmas Eve 2016.
